Continuing monthly in 2027
Creativity. Spirituality. Connection. Are you a writer, poet, artist, or song maker?
Whatever your medium, our new small group connects you with fellow Creatives to follow our Mission to “share our unique gifts in an evolving world.”
We will witness, celebrate, and explore each other's creative journeys of the spirit as we let our divine natures bloom in the creative process.
The group will begin this fall with a Spiritual Autobiography class to explore our journeys and futures both in class and with homework.
The October/November classes are not mandatory but recommended, as we connect spirituality and creativity and as we begin to develop a vision for the ongoing Creatives group.
Regular monthly Creatives meetings will begin in January 2027 as we implement our plans and share our gifts.
Participants can expect to complete assignments and will be invited to share that work and others with the group and church at large, as they are willing.
Co-facilitators Barbara G. Howell and Wendlyn Alter have worked separately and together for more than a decade. Both are writers by trade—in newspaper and technical venues—and are journaling and published creative writers.
Barbara's other creative interests include photography, where she has been accepted in local juried exhibitions, had a solo show, and organized and staged photo shows both in the US and Vietnam. For two years, she served as a Worship Associate at a local Unitarian Universalist church, where she gave sermons and initiated and led congregational programs.
Wendlyn has dabbled in wrought iron and art welding, is a lapsed watercolor and sketch artist, and is currently struggling with a difficult memoir. From 2013 to 2015, they co-facilitated a spiritually themed Writers Group that produced a quarterly arts magazine, Chalice.
